In 2004 West Portal Church in Saskatoon sensed that God was leading them to expand beyond their current location, and a decision was made to start up a new church by “tithing” 10% of the congregation and one full-time pastor. So, in the spring of 2005, Pastor Andrew Fehr and 80 volunteers from West Portal stepped out and began what would become Faith River Christian Fellowship.
At a chartering service in September 2005, we were officially received as a member of the Saskatchewan Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. In January 2006 we purchased the building where we now meet. From the start we have experienced steady growth and today we are a mix of people from many different cultures and backgrounds, and all generations. From the beginning our desire has been for Faith River to be not just a gathering place for likeminded Christians, but a church that reaches out to those who have not yet discovered a relationship with Christ and His Church. This continues to be our focus as we worship and work together, and as we look to the future.
